Three Rivers' Community Health & Nutrition Programs<\/strong> are designed to assure healthy pregnancies and children, especially for those at-risk.\u00a0 In addition to nursing case management, these services also assure that parents have the necessary skills to raise children that are physically, socially and emotionally healthy.<\/p>\n

Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The vision and mission of the\u00a0Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is to provide supplemental healthy foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for pregnant, breastfeeding, & non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five, who qualify.<\/p>\n

Research has shown that there is no better food than breast milk for a baby\u2019s first year of life. Breastfeeding provides many<\/p>\n

health, nutritional, economical and emotional benefits to mother and baby. Since a major goal of the WIC Program is to improve the nutritional status of infants, WIC mothers are encouraged to breastfeed their infants. WIC has historically promoted breastfeeding to all pregnant women as the optimal infant feeding choice, unless medically contraindicated.\u00a0For more information on breastfeeding<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Resource Mothers<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Three Rivers Resource Mothers<\/strong>\u00a0provides education and social support for pregnant and parenting teens. It is supported by both State and Title V funding. The Resource Mothers Program will serve teens through the age of 19 in all ten counties until their child reaches one year old. Goals are:<\/p>\n
