{"id":7256,"date":"2025-12-19T07:10:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T12:10:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/rappahannock\/?page_id=7256"},"modified":"2025-12-19T07:44:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T12:44:10","slug":"lead-poisoning-prevention","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/rappahannock\/lead-poisoning-prevention\/","title":{"rendered":"Lead Poisoning Prevention"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"entry-title no-featured-image\" style=\"text-align: center;\">Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program<\/h1>\n<p>Childhood lead poisoning is considered the most preventable environmental disease among young children.\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0<strong>Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP)<\/strong>\u00a0within VDH&#8217;s Division of Prevention and Health Promotion at VDH&#8217;s Central Office is a CDC-funded program.\u00a0 The program provides:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Surveillance and analysis of reported blood lead levels in children less than 16 years of age<\/li>\n<li>Education and outreach to parents, communities, and health professionals about childhood lead poisoning and prevention, and<\/li>\n<li>Oversight to providers and local health department staff on screening, testing, and case management for children exposed to lead<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The CLPPP aims to ensure that children at risk for lead exposure are identified, tested, and connected to additional services.
