{"id":25,"date":"2016-09-15T15:06:09","date_gmt":"2016-09-15T15:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/rappahannock\/?page_id=25"},"modified":"2023-03-10T10:21:25","modified_gmt":"2023-03-10T15:21:25","slug":"food-services","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/rappahannock\/services\/food-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Food Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Food Service Permits<\/h3>\n<h3>Building a New Foodservice Facility\/Remodeling an Existing Facility<\/h3>\n<p>Whenever a food establishment is constructed\/remodeled or whenever an existing structure is converted to use as a food establishment, plans and specifications for such construction, remodeling, or conversion must be submitted prior to start.<\/p>\n<p>The following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/114\/2023\/03\/Plan-Review-Guide-Letter.pdf\">Plan Review Guide Letter<\/a>\u00a0outlines our process for plan reviews, revisions, and the\u00a0application process for establishments.\u00a0 In general, the following steps must occur:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/114\/2023\/03\/Food-Plan-Review-Application.pdf\">Food Plan Review Application<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/114\/2023\/03\/Food-Permit-Application.pdf\">Food Permit Application<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Provide plans and equipment specifications\/schedule<\/li>\n<li>Include proposed menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Submit to Local Health Department with applicable fees for review and permit. Please note there is a 30-day processing time for new foodservice facilities.<\/p>\n<h3>Purchasing an existing Foodservice facility<\/h3>\n<p>A change ownership inspection is recommended before the settlement\/closing is completed and must be conducted before operating the facility under the new owner.<\/p>\n<p>Submit the following to the Local Health Department:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/114\/2023\/03\/Food-Permit-Application.pdf\">Food Permit Application<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Copy of new menu with Consumer Advisory, if applicable.<\/li>\n<li>Provide a list of all equipment to be replaced or added.<\/li>\n<li>Plans are required for equipment layout changes, remodeling, equipment installation or any other type of construction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The local Health Department will schedule an inspection following a review of the completed application.<\/p>\n<h3>Mobile Food Vending<\/h3>\n<p>The following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/114\/2023\/03\/Plan-Review-Guide-Letter-for-Mobile-Food-Units.pdf\">Plan Review Guide Letter for Mobile Food Units<\/a> outlines our process for plan reviews, revisions, and the\u00a0application process for establishments.\u00a0 In general, the following steps must occur:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/114\/2023\/03\/Application-for-a-Mobile-Unit-Permit.pdf\">Application for a Mobile Unit Permit<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/114\/2023\/03\/Application-for-a-Mobile-Food-Plan-Review.pdf\">Application for a Mobile Food Plan Review<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Provide plans and equipment specifications.<\/li>\n<li>Include proposed menu.<\/li>\n<li>If cooking is proposed on board the unit, provide detail information on ventilation.\u00a0 All hoods need to vent to the outside.<\/li>\n<li>Information relating to your base of operation.<\/li>\n<li>Letter of agreement for proposed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/114\/2016\/09\/Commissary-Authorization.pdf\">commissary<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/114\/2016\/09\/Service-Area-Authorization.pdf\">service area<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Submit to Local Health Department with applicable fees for review and permit<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Temporary Food Events<\/h3>\n<p>Individuals, organizations, and\/or businesses planning to sell or serve food at a public event in the Rappahannock Health District must apply for a temporary event permit at least ten (10) days prior to the event.\u00a0 Large special events (10 vendors or more) must submit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/114\/2023\/03\/EventCoordinatorApp.Rev-05_2022.pdf\">Temporary Event Coordinator Application (Rev. 5\/2022)<\/a>\u00a0to the Local Health Department thirty (30) days prior to the event.<\/p>\n<p>Each participating vendor will need to submit the following to the local Health Department:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Complete <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/114\/2019\/04\/RAHD-TempFoodVendorAppPDF.pdf\">Temporary Event Application<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Temporary Event Application fee of $40<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Food Regulations<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/law.lis.virginia.gov\/admincode\/title12\/agency5\/chapter421\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chapter 421, Food Regulations<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/environmental-health\/food-safety-in-virginia\/food-operators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Additional Information about Operating a Foodservice Facility<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Restaurant Inspections<\/h3>\n<p>You may view <a href=\"http:\/\/healthspace.com\/Clients\/VDH\/VDH\/web.nsf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">inspection reports<\/a> for restaurants, fast food operations, deli, cafeterias, and other types of foodservice establishments inspected by the Rappahannock Health District
