WIC can even help make your baby smarter. WIC helps Women, Infants and Children during times of important growth. Research has shown that being in WIC can help lower a baby&#8217;s chances of being born with health problems. The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program provides nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and healthy food assistance to eligible families, ensuring that mothers and young children get the nutrients they need for growth and development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"460\" data-end=\"724\">One helpful tool for balanced eating is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myplate.gov\/eat-healthy\/what-is-myplate\"><strong data-start=\"500\" data-end=\"511\">MyPlate<\/strong><\/a>, which offers simple guidelines on portion sizes and food groups to encourage well-rounded meals. By following MyPlate\u2019s recommendations, families can build healthy eating habits that support lifelong wellness.<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Do I qualify for WIC? <strong>The WIC Program helps<\/strong>:<\/h2>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Infants from birth to age 1<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Children up until they turn 5 years old<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum<\/h3>\n<h4>In order to receive WIC benefits in Virginia, you must have proof that you live in the State of Virginia. Proof of residence includes:<\/h4>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>Utility bills<\/li>\n<li>Rent\/ mortgage receipts<\/li>\n<li>Medicaid card<\/li>\n<li>Virginia driver&#8217;s license<\/li>\n<li>TANF\/Welfare photo ID<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">You must also be financially eligible<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Your income must be at or below 185% of the <a href=\"https:\/\/fns-prod.azureedge.us\/sites\/default\/files\/resource-files\/wic-ieg-2024-25-memo.pdf#page=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">federal poverty guidelines<\/a>. The income limits are higher than you may think! It all depends on your yearly income and the number of people in your household.
