This will help them grow and thrive as they transition into adulthood.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/adolescent-health-hub\/\" rel=\"noopener\">VDH\u2019s Adolescent Health Hub<\/a> includes information about a wide range of topics. They are topics that are relevant to young people in Virginia:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>mental health<\/li>\n<li>behavioral health<\/li>\n<li>healthcare access<\/li>\n<li>sexual health<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/adolescent-health-hub\/about-youth-advisors\/\" rel=\"noopener\">VDH\u2019s Youth Advisory Council (YAC)<\/a> gives youth the opportunity to identify and weigh in on public health topics. These are topics that directly affect the populations they represent. YAC members develop educational materials and strategies around these topics. They attend monthly meetings, and engage in leadership opportunities offered through the council.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/resource-mothers\/\" rel=\"noopener\">The Virginia Resource Mothers Program (VRMP)<\/a> offers support for pregnant and parenting teens. VRMP provides home visits and pairs a community health worker (CHW) with a teen and their family. They provide mentorship to the teen. It helps teens achieve their personal, education, and professional goals while also parenting a child. CHWs offer evidence-informed courses. The courses cover important prenatal\/postpartum topics including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>safe sleep<\/li>\n<li>breastfeeding<\/li>\n<li>perinatal mental health<\/li>\n<li>postpartum checkups<\/li>\n<li>child development<\/li>\n<li>goal setting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Young people deserve access to health information, services, and mentors.
