      The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the VDH Injury and Violence Prevention Program recognizes that violence is an urgent public health problem. <\/span><\/p>\n

      From infants to the elderly, violence affects people in all stages of life. <\/span><\/p>\n

      Violence is defined by the World Health Organization as, \u201cThe intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another person, or against a group or community, that either results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, maldevelopment, or deprivation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

      VDH is committed to violence prevention work so that everyone can be safe and healthy.<\/span><\/p>\n
