Oil spills, fish kills, and hazardous materials releases are examples of incidents that often directly involve the DEQ PREP Program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Report Pollution<br \/>\n<\/strong>Citizens and regulated entities may report pollution incidents by submitting a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.deq.virginia.gov\/our-programs\/pollution-response\/pollution-data-and-reporting\">report online<\/a>\u00a0link to: https:\/\/www.deq.virginia.gov\/our-programs\/pollution-response\/pollution-data-and-reporting or by contacting a regional office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emergencies<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you observe a significant pollution incident that presents an imminent threat to human health or the environment, report the pollution incident to the\u00a0<strong>local 911<\/strong>\u00a0and to the\u00a0<strong>Virginia Emergency Operations Center\u00a0<\/strong>at<strong>\u00a01-800-468-8892<\/strong>.\u00a0 Do not use the online reporting tool.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Traffic Incident Management<br \/>\n<\/strong>Traffic incidents in Virginia often involve the release or discharge of vehicle fluids, such as diesel or gasoline fuel, motor oil, antifreeze, etc. Under state laws and regulations, certain notification, cleanup and reporting requirements apply to the release or discharge of vehicle fluids. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.deq.virginia.gov\/home\/showpublisheddocument\/17027\/638162898169970000\">Motor Vehicle Fluids Management Fact Sheet<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0outlines the basic requirements for motor carriers, and others may assist with the removal of vehicle fluids, and includes references to additional resources. This factsheet does not provide information related to releases of oil or hazmat cargo.
