data-end=\"2100\"><em>Update: 24 February 2026<\/em><\/p>\n<h1 data-start=\"228\" data-end=\"287\">EMR &amp; EMT Skills Verification \u2013 National Registry (NREMT)<\/h1>\n<p data-start=\"289\" data-end=\"503\">Effective <strong data-start=\"299\" data-end=\"316\">March 1, 2026<\/strong>, Program Directors for <strong data-start=\"340\" data-end=\"381\">Virginia-approved EMR and EMT courses<\/strong> are responsible for marking students as complete for <strong data-start=\"435\" data-end=\"458\">skills verification<\/strong> within the National Registry (NREMT) system.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"505\" data-end=\"581\">This change applies to all Virginia-approved EMR and EMT education programs.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"583\" data-end=\"586\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"588\" data-end=\"607\">What Is Required<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"609\" data-end=\"633\">Beginning March 1, 2026:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"635\" data-end=\"916\">\n<li data-start=\"635\" data-end=\"761\">\n<p data-start=\"637\" data-end=\"761\">The Program Director must verify and mark students as <strong data-start=\"691\" data-end=\"727\">complete for skills verification<\/strong> directly within the NREMT system.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"762\" data-end=\"807\">\n<p data-start=\"764\" data-end=\"807\">OEMS will no longer complete this function.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"808\" data-end=\"916\">\n<p data-start=\"810\" data-end=\"916\">Skills verification must be entered when a student successfully completes all required psychomotor skills.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"918\" data-end=\"1042\">Failure to enter skills verification in NREMT may delay a student\u2019s ability to test or proceed in the certification process.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1044\" data-end=\"1047\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"1049\" data-end=\"1075\">Retroactive Application<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1077\" data-end=\"1116\">This requirement applies retroactively.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1118\" data-end=\"1342\">Education Coordinators (ECs) and Program Directors should review prior EMR and EMT course rosters in the NREMT system and ensure that students who successfully completed required skills have been properly marked as complete.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1344\" data-end=\"1433\">Correcting past omissions will prevent delays for students seeking testing authorization.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1435\" data-end=\"1438\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"1440\" data-end=\"1465\">Required Entry Process<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1467\" data-end=\"1606\">To ensure consistency between state and national records, skills verification entry in <strong data-start=\"1554\" data-end=\"1563\">NREMT<\/strong> should be completed at the same time that:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1608\" data-end=\"1742\">\n<li data-start=\"1608\" data-end=\"1677\">\n<p data-start=\"1610\" data-end=\"1677\">Student course completion is entered in the <strong data-start=\"1654\" data-end=\"1670\">NREMT system<\/strong>, and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1678\" data-end=\"1742\">\n<p data-start=\"1680\" data-end=\"1742\">Student completion is entered in the <strong data-start=\"1717\" data-end=\"1741\">Virginia OEMS Portal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1744\" data-end=\"1799\">Completion should be entered in both systems in unison.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1801\" data-end=\"1804\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"1806\" data-end=\"1818\">Important<\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"1820\" data-end=\"2071\">\n<li data-start=\"1820\" data-end=\"1880\">\n<p data-start=\"1822\" data-end=\"1880\">This requirement applies to <strong data-start=\"1850\" data-end=\"1879\">EMR and EMT programs only<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1881\" data-end=\"1960\">\n<p data-start=\"1883\" data-end=\"1960\">The designated Program Director is responsible for timely and accurate entry.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1961\" data-end=\"2071\">\n<p data-start=\"1963\" data-end=\"2071\">Students experiencing delays due to missing skills verification should first contact their Program Director.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"2073\" data-end=\"2076\" \/>\n<p data-start=\"2078\" data-end=\"2100\"><em>Update: 24 February 2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<h2><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Educator Role Expiration Extension \u2013 2026<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Dear Educator,<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"black\">The Virginia Office of EMS (OEMS) is announcing that educator roles with expiration dates occurring in 2026 have been extended to the same month and day in 2027.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"black\">This extension applies to the following roles:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li data-ogsc=\"black\">Education Coordinators (EC)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li data-ogsc=\"black\">Education\u00a0Coordinator Candidates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li data-ogsc=\"black\">ALS Coordinators<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li data-ogsc=\"black\">EMS Education Institution Officials (EOIs)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"black\">This extension applies only to the roles listed above and only to those expiring within the stated timeframe. <\/span>These updates have already been completed and are reflected in your EMS Portal account. No action is required on your part.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Several factors contributed to this decision, including recent staffing transitions within the Accreditation, Certification, and Education Division, the ongoing transition from a previous education platform to a new system, continued work to update and formalize the Education Coordinator Institute curriculum, and sustainability considerations related to workload capacity. This extension allows OEMS to complete these initiatives while maintaining stability and continuity for EMS education programs across the Commonwealth.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"black\">OEMS recognizes the time, preparation, and commitment educators invest in maintaining these roles. We appreciate your patience and professionalism as we continue strengthening the Education Institute and Instructor Update processes to ensure long-term success.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"black\">OEMS remains committed to supporting your role in EMS education across the Commonwealth.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Respectfully,<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"black\">\u00a0<\/span>Accreditation, Certification and Education Division Staff<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"2073\" data-end=\"2076\" \/>\n<p data-start=\"2078\" data-end=\"2100\"><em>Update: 24 June 2024<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Implementation of Virginia Continuing Education (CE) Requirements<\/h2>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">Virginia has officially adopted the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) model with some state-specific customizations. For more information on this implementation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/emergency-medical-services\/education-certification\/educator-resources\/continuing-education-program-guidance\/implementation-of-the-national-continued-competency-program-nccp-in-virginia\/\">click here<\/a>.\u00a0 Here's the quick take:<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\"><span style=\"color: #c8102e;\"><em><strong>Across all three areas, it's the provider's responsibility to participate in relevant, substantive CE that will enable them to recertify with Virginia and the National Registry--if they choose.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The following graphic shows the <strong>2016-2025 Virginia Recertification Requirements<\/strong> by provider level.\u00a0 Please note the requirements are tied to the date of the provider's last Virginia recertification cycle--<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #c8102e;\"><strong>October 1, 2023<\/strong><\/span> is the key date which determines what CE requirements apply to the provider moving forward.\u00a0\u00a0The very first statement you make is:<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">\"<em>Show me your current CE Report<\/em>.\"<\/h2>\n<p>When a provider comes to you with questions about the new Virginia CE requirements, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">their CE Report is crucial to the entire process<\/span>.\u00a0 As far as how the transition will work, look to the two scenarios below.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>If the provider recertified in Virginia on or after October 1, 2023:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #c8102e;\"><strong>No earned CE will be lost or removed from your report in the transition.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li>The CE earned and currently on their Virginia CE Report--from October 1, 2023 forward--will be retroactively transitioned to the new <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2024\/06\/TR-64-BLS-ALS-NCCP-Recertification-June-2024.pdf\">2025 Virginia Recertification Requirements<\/a><\/strong><strong>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The retroactive reprocessing of their CE to the new 2025 requirements may possibly change the number of hours their have in a specific areas based on the new requirements.\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #c8102e;\"><strong>Please review their Virginia CE Report with them to identify any areas that may be affected and require additional CE to be earned in order to be eligible for recertification in Virginia and with National Registry if applicable.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>If the provider is eligible for recertification in Virginia on June 17th, their eligibility\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #c8102e;\">will not be lost<\/span> <\/em><\/strong><\/span>and they\u00a0<span style=\"color: #c8102e;\"><strong><em>will<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<strong>not be required<\/strong><\/em><\/span>\u00a0to complete additional CE based on this change in CE requirements to satisfy their Virginia recertification.<\/li>\n<li>If the provider is National Registry certified and they plan to maintain that certification, they <span style=\"color: #c8102e;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>must review their Virginia CE Report against the Registry NCCP 2025 requirements<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span> to ensure that they have earned enough CE in the correct areas to satisfy Registry recertification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>If the provider recertified in Virginia before October 1, 2023:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #c8102e;\"><strong>No earned CE will be lost or removed from their report in the transition.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Their Virginia CE Report will <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not be<\/span> transitioned and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">will not<\/span> change.<\/li>\n<li>They will remain under the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2024\/06\/TR-64-BLS-ALS-NCCP-Recertification-June-2024.pdf\">2016 Virginia Recertification Requirements<\/a><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>through their next Virginia recertification cycle.<\/li>\n<li>Following their next recertification in Virginia, they will then be required to follow the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2024\/06\/TR-64-BLS-ALS-NCCP-Recertification-June-2024.pdf\">2025 Virginia Recertification Requirements<\/a><\/strong><strong>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please see the chart below to see the hours changes between the 2016 model and the 2025 model--clicking on the image will begin a download of the PDF version of the form.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">BLS &amp;
