The Office of Drinking Water chose to develop a comprehensive Capacity Development Strategy (revised Strategy approved by EPA January 2022) that includes all of the SDWA required elements and includes provisions for asset management planning relating to the American Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2022\/02\/APPROVED_Virginia-Capacity-Development-Strategy_Mar-1-2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Capacity Development Strategy March 1, 2021<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Staff performs a technical, managerial and financial capacity assessment of existing waterworks and utilizes the assessment in directing Office resources to assist waterworks in complying with the SDWA. Reports to the Governor and the public are due every three years from March 6, 2002.
