WHAT IS INFANT & TODDLER CONNECTION OF CENTRAL VIRGINIA?<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Infant & Toddler Connection of Central Virginia is part of Virginia’s early intervention system for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families. They serve all localities of the Central Virginia Health District – Lynchburg City and Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell Counties.<\/p>\n

Early intervention supports and services focus on increasing the child’s participation in family and community activities that are important to the family. In addition, they teach parents and other caregivers how to help their children learn during everyday activities.<\/p>\n

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Although infants and toddlers learn & grow at their pace, early childhood development often follows predictable patterns. Skills such as taking a first step, smiling for the first time, and waving \u201cbye-bye\u201d are called\u00a0developmental milestones<\/em>. Children reach milestones in how they play, learn, speak, act and move (crawling, walking, etc.) For any number of reasons, many young children need a little extra help to reach certain developmental milestones. And since infants and toddlers grow and learn so quickly, it\u2019s important to get that extra help as early as possible if you or your child\u2019s doctor have any concerns about your child\u2019s development. Early identification and intervention can make a difference!<\/p>\n

Families are Early Intervention!<\/strong> You know your child better than anyone else.<\/em>\u00a0So, who better to help your child develop and grow? Mothers and fathers, aunts and uncles, brothers, sisters, grandparents, neighbors and friends, childcare providers: Children learn best from those who are most often with them. For this reason, families are at the very heart of early intervention. Our goal is to support you and the other caregivers in your family as you learn and acquire strategies to best support the development of your unique and special child.<\/p>\n

The Infant & Toddler Connection of Virginia provides supports and services for infants and toddlers and their families so that families can help their children learn during everyday activities and routines.<\/p>\n

A referral for eligibility can be made by a physician or hospital. Some families make their own referral.<\/strong><\/p>\n

IS THERE A COST?<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n
