The MRC has medical and non-medical community members, who volunteer their skills, expertise and time to support ongoing public health initiatives and health emergencies throughout the district.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><b>Mission<\/b><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">BRHD MRC is built on the concept that our community can improve it\u2019s overall health and preparedness by organizing volunteer resources from within.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><b>Purpose<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Recruit health care professionals and supporting role volunteers<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Create a framework of skills to address our community&#8217;s needs<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Train volunteers to respond effectively to local emergencies<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"4\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Provide reserve capacity to respond to local, state and national public health needs<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><b>Are you interested in becoming a Blue Ridge Health District Medical Reserve Corps Volunteer?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><b>Why volunteer?<\/b><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">BRHD MRC actively improves and protects their community\u2019s public health by:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Providing community health education and preventative health screenings<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Providing medical services to at-risk populations<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Deploying to communicable disease outbreak response efforts<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"4\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Volunteering to emergency preparedness training and exercises<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"5\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Providing staffing and support to local, state and national emergency responses<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Here are some examples of the volunteer deployments you may see at BRHD:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Providing office staffing support for medical services\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Staffing state and local emergency shelters<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Staffing Point of Dispensing (POD) sites for giving medications and vaccinations\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"4\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Utilizing skills to teach community CPR, Stop the Bleed and Naloxone classes<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"5\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Supporting WIC program during clinics<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><b>Becoming a Volunteer<br \/>\n<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">To become a Blue Ridge Health District Medical Reserve Corps Volunteer, please submit an application in the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><u><a id=\"OWAb6b6162f-99c6-101a-0477-81a735a464ee\" class=\"x_OWAAutoLink\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\" title=\"https:\/\/vvhs.vamrc.org\/\" href=\"https:\/\/vvhs.vamrc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"3\">Virginia Volunteer Health System<\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Get stuck somewhere in the application process?
